PART-TIME FIRE CHIEF HARVARD FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

The Harvard (Illinois) Fire Protection District is seeking applications for the position of Part-Time Fire Chief. The District protects approximately 14,000 people in the City of Harvard and surrounding Townships. The District is an all hazards organization providing fire protection, fire prevention, rescue and emergency medical responder services responding to more than 1500 calls for services annually. The District is a Part time, paid-on-premise department with four paid-on-premise members 24/7 and a part-time administrative assistant.

Candidates for the position of Fire Chief should have 10 years’ experience in a Fire Officer position and should be familiar with the complexities of running a combination fire/EMS agency. Candidates for hire will be required to have: Advanced Fire Officer (Fire Officer II) and an associate degree in fire science. Desired qualifications include: Chief Fire Officer; Fire Officer III Certification; United States Fire Academy, Federal Emergency Management Agency – Executive Fire Officer program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   A Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration, Management or related field is desirable.

Residency within 30 mile radius of the District’s fire station, located at 502 S. Eastman St., Harvard, Illinois, is required within a negotiated time frame.

The hiring range is $54,600 – $66,300 annually. Starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
