Harvard Fire Protection District

Special Meeting held April 21, 2018

Trustee Condon called the Special Meeting of the Harvard Fire Protection District Board of Trustees to order at 8:10 am in the meeting room of the Fire Station at 502 S. Eastman St. The purpose of the meeting was to work on the District Budget for FY2018/2019. Roll Call showed Trustees Carbonetti, Condon and Clarke present. Also in attendance were Deputy Chief Davidson, B/C Pierce and Roger Hugg.

2018/2019 Budget proposals:

Carbonetti reported receiving all the necessary budget request forms from staff officers and members. Carbonetti assembled all the monetary requests onto one spread sheet for review. Carbonetti informed those present that approximately $400,000.00 needed to be cut from the requested budget proposals. Carbonetti indicated that forecasted revenue for FY2018/2019 is approximately $1,160,000.00, and initial expenditures are $1,580,000.00.

Trustees Condon, Carbonetti and Clarke discussed each budget request, and made the following cuts

  1. $100,000.00 from payroll
  2. $13,100.00 from Training
  3. $25,000.00 from officer salaries
  4. $17,700.00 from equipment repair and maintenance
  5. $1,000.00 from Knox security boxes
  6. $5,000.00 from public education
  7. $5,000.00 from computers

Trustee Condon had to leave the meeting at 10am to attend to personal business.

Carbonetti indicated that significant progress had been made towards a balanced budget. Carbonetti will continue to work on adjusting various accounts to achieve the necessary cuts prior to the public budget hearing in June.
